In 1835, noted author, Washington Irving, purchased land on the banks of the Hudson River and built “Sunnyside”, his New York home.  Act 1 of the play allows students to portray real authors and characters from that time as they join Mr. Irving for an evening at his home.  In Act II, the play is a present-day class field trip to that historic home where some of the students awaken an old man fast asleep by a tree. Is it really Mr. Irving?
